What I Learned from “Inside Out”

People are normally afraid of showing their own sadness just because we thought it would ruin our joy and we worry too much of what others would think. However, sadness is one of the most crucial emotions that every human being needs to have. It’s a way of expressing ourselves.

Without sadness, we wouldn’t be able to cry for help when we’re in need.

With sadness, real happiness can come to us; we don’t need to be and act happy all the time.

At times, we just have to let go of what is precious to us from the past. Sacrifices may be tough and heartbreaking, though it is the key to reach to our own joy. If you love someone or love something… let it go.

Most of all, just because you see a highly optimistic person that smiles all the time, doesn’t mean they are eternally happy. Sometimes you have to go deeper within that person because somewhere deep within, that person may be hiding something more that is breaking him/her. You may never know, he/she is being shattered and damaged from a haunting part of life.

That is why my main theme in writing is full of sadness. All I want is to call the audience not for attention, but to warn them about what is really within me. I may appear happy and innocent all the time on the outside. But I’m not. Inside my head, I’m really crying for help. I wanted to escape from my dark cloud and the only way I can do it is to let everyone hear my wails and see my tears.

Joy said she wanted Riley to be happy and then she cried. Her tears allowed her to find a real productivity in life. Thanks to Sadness, Riley was able to show and use her own tears and instantly, her true happiness has come to her fate.

If Joy can do it, if Riley can do it, and if I can do it, I’m sure everyone can too.

Just remember, it’s okay to be sad. It’s never okay to hide it. Sadness does not make us weak. She never made us weak at all.

Sadness is a strength… not a weakness.
