My Life In Brooklyn

Staring at the tall mirror

As I fix my shirt’s collar

Wondering if I am good enough

I know that life is very tough

Feeding fussy babies and kids

Not enough to survive this

Getting A’s and B’s at every class

Volunteering to bust off my ass

Wearing glasses instead of contacts

Bullies come to me to attack

I’m not emo, but my life sucks

Everything is all too much

Teachers gave me hate

I don’t even want to date

I don’t like anybody in school

Everybody is just so cruel

I’ll never be class president

Or a cheerleader on the bench

I’m sorry I’m not popular

I earn tips by playing guitar

I’m sorry I’m not Taylor Swift

At least I have a gift

I love to read college-level books

I don’t care about my looks

I get most answers correct

St. Francis College is what I accept

I don’t need friends, I’m the loner

I won’t complain and be a moaner

Writing in my diary is how I cope

Being a famous writer is what I hope

Not sorry for listening to Marilyn Manson

I prefer Hard Rock music with sin

Not sorry for wearing black all the time

I don’t like wearing bright colors to shine

Not sorry for drowning you with headphones

I just want to listen to Death Metal alone

Not sorry that I was a vegan

I won’t be on my knees begging

To be noticed and getting attention

I don’t need all that inclination

Don’t care what anyone else thinks

Fuck them, let them drown and sink

This is my life, I’m holding it in

This is how my life is in Brooklyn
