Write a letter to your 100-year-old self.
Dear Future Nicole,
I would like to inform you that in the past, you’ve went through a lot of troubles growing up. From being bullied to being abused by teachers; from eating disorders to self-injury; from depression to having manic episodes; you all went through every one of these since the day you started kindergarten. I just want to let you know that you have come this far into becoming a fighter and a warrior, not a victim.
You also started a writing career as a published author. You have written a myriad of books ever since college. I know they may not be bestsellers later on, though you still persevere as a published author and you remained tenacious about your passion for writing. I know for sure that you won’t give up writing and you won’t give up your dreams of becoming a famous bestselling author. Who knows? I bet you would become the next Stephen King or even Sylvia Plath, Cheryl Strayed, or maybe Glennon Doyle, all your favorite authors who influenced you. It may not be right away, but maybe some time later on if you persist with your tenacity.
I just want to let you know that you never gave up on life and you are still alive, hence the semicolon butterfly tattoo on your left wrist you got on your twenty-third birthday. That semicolon butterfly is a permanent reminder for you that you are still writing your story even if it seems that the sentence has ended. But it’s not.
I bet by the time you read this, you’re already a bestselling author and novelist and you may have made millions of dollars from your books. I just want to let you know that I am very proud of you for your accomplishments.
I will always be proud of you for becoming a fighter, not a victim. Remember that forever.
Love always,
Past Nicole
