Florence Nightingale

If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?

If I could meet a historical figure, it would have to be Florence Nightingale.

Ever since I first learned about her in elementary school, I became very captivated about her.

Nightingale was not only a nurse, but she was also a hero.

She saved lives during the grotesque Crimean Wars.

Nightingale was also a statistician, whereas she used data to reform the first hospitals ever built, from providing hospitable sanitation to establishing the very first school nursing programs.

During the Crimean Wars, she helped saved soldiers by using professional medicinal methods that are still used even today.

Not only that, but Nightingale has also written books on modern medicine and methodical medical procedures.

Starting from middle school all the way to my first year in college, I used to want to pursue my career path to become a doctor under the influence of Florence Nightingale before I dropped out of pre-med on my freshman year of college to become an author.

Despite my lack of pursuit of becoming a doctor, I still gained some medical knowledge and terms from my evanescent pre-med major that may be useful for my future novels, albeit very limited as I am not medically professional.

If I could ever meet Florence Nightingale, I’d be her apprentice to gain some more extensive knowledge of the medical field that I can use for my future novels as most of my future literary pieces will involve medical references.

If I could turn back in time, I’d tell Florence Nightingale that she inspired me to become the didactic literary person I am today and that she will always be one of my personal historical figure favorites.

“I attribute my success to this – I never gave or took any excuse.“
