The last relationship that has a positive impact on me was when I was dating this woman, J.
While we were dating, J and I became open about it, in spite of the negative reactions we received from Christians and homophobic people. However, we didn’t let them get the best of us; we learned to combat this type of ordeal. J and I went on dates and we even cooked meals together when we combined her Italian cuisines with my Asian dishes. Who knew that it would make a delicious fusion?
J and I may have had our differences:
J is into nightclubbing while I’m more into fine wine dining.
J likes to go rock climbing while I like to go on nature walks.
J’s favorite color is aquamarine while my favorite color is lavender.
J prefers chocolate cake while I prefer red velvet.
Despite our differences, we were able to compromise since that’s the most important of being in a relationship.
Overall, while J and I were dating, she helped me be more courageous about my sexuality and she helped me fought my fears of being victimized for being gay. We didn’t let anything get the best of us whenever we held each other’s hands as we go out in communal areas. We ignored the disgusted reactions from homophobic people. We even combat the most difficult experience when we passed by the train station.
A fundamentalist woman was preaching outside of the train station and when we passed by her, the woman screamed obscenities at us for being a same-sex couple and she yelled at us that we would go to hell as an afterlife. With all our audacity, J and I verbally retaliated in a way that I won’t explain. It worked. The woman left us alone, baffled, and we moved on.
To sum everything up, this last relationship with J positively impacted my life. Even though J and I are just platonic friends now, I can never forget how positive this relationship became for me. I remained audacious about my sexuality and identity and I became more open about it. I became fearless about sharing my love with women, in which I have written many fictional short stories on lesbian romance. If people don’t like it, then fuck them. I’m just going to keep writing lesbian romance stories whenever I feel like it. It’s all part of me now.
I may find another woman to love someday. Not right now. For now, I’m just going to focus on my writing as I share more about my infatuation with other women in my fictional works. Hopefully, this would help and inspire other people out there who are going through the same ordeal as I did.
I just want them to know that they are never alone.
