What makes me feel nostalgic is my childhood during the 90s and early-2000s.
Everything from VCRs and VHS, Tamagotchi pets, hula hoops, jump ropes, hopscotch, Slinkies, pink and purple rollerblades, cassettes, floppy disks, and so much more.
I remember owning an old handheld Gameboy Advance video game and I would play Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak all day long. It was my favorite childhood game and I would even have vivid dreams of playing that. I would also play old versions of Sonic the Hedgehog back then and the character I always chose was Amy Rose because she’s been my childhood favorite ever since I first got hooked to the Sonic franchise.
My most favorite childhood show was Blue’s Clues. I remembered how much I favored Steve over Joe. I even recalled crying on that episode where Steve left for college, which broke my heart when I first heard that Steven Burns left the show to pursue a different path of career. Steve or Joe, Blue’s Clues will always be my personal favorite show from my childhood.
What truly makes me nostalgic the most is Rock music from the early-2000s. I keep a Spotify playlist of all my favorite music from that time, from “Ever the Same” by Rob Thomas to “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and my personal favorite, “Unwell” by Matchbox Twenty. All these music from that time truly brought me nostalgia and whenever I listen to this whole playlist, I couldn’t help but to go back in time where I wanted to escape from the traumatizing reality during my childhood.
Here’s the playlist:
Everything from my childhood brings me great memories of escapism and transporting myself into a different reality as I remain imaginative. If I could turn back time, I would definitely bring all of my favorite childhood items back to the present and relive them.
