My Most Influential Teacher

Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

My most influential teacher would have to be one of my college lit and writing professor, T.G.

Ever since I first had him for one of my classes, I found out that not only he’s a professor, but he’s also a novelist.

I’ve had him for three English courses: American Literature, Dystopian Literature, and, my personal favorite, Fiction Writing.

I’ve been looking up to Prof. G ever since then and outside of classes, I sought him for advice on becoming a writer. He became one of my English mentors.

I read one of his novels and I was impressed with his writing style and imaginative ideas, hence the reason how I found my own creative writing style. He told me to be unique and be myself in my own style, so I did, and I realized that my style is meant to be dark, mysterious, vague, philosophical, and vividly metaphorical. I became proud of my own creative writing style and I will never change it.

On our last class together, I showed Prof. G the first draft of my debut novel, No Turning Back. In spite of my erroneous writing on that draft, he gave me compliments about it.

Prof. G said that I am very creative and I indeed have a way of imagination on that novel. I felt elated when he told me that. So I resumed the draft and heavily edited before publishing it.

So, there you have it. Not only is Prof. G my favorite professor, but he’s also my influential mentor and role model to me. Without him, I wouldn’t have pursued my passionate career as an author. I thank him for everything for mentoring me into becoming a notable author.

And now, here I am: a self-published independent author with over 500+ followers on Instagram. I will keep posting my excerpts from my books, as well as my poetry, on Instagram in order to gain my audience with just simple baby steps.

Someday, my books will become bestsellers… all thanks to my professor and mentor.
