People With Bipolar Disorder Need Love Too

Lately on most social media platforms, I have been reading negative comments and posts about people with bipolar disorder.

They said that us bipolar people are “insane” and that two-syllabled “C” word that I refused to say or even mention. Whenever I see and hear people call us these pejorative terms…

I couldn’t help but to feel offended! Not only just myself, but also for the entire bipolar population.

Do you even know how derogatory you all sound when you say these things?!

Non-bipolar people never understood us. They’re all the same in the most derogatory way; they all assume that we’re mentally unstable and overreactive at all times, and that we belong in an “insane asylum” (they’re called mental institutions now! No one calls them asylums anymore!), which makes me feel more infuriated and irate!

For those who allegedly assumed us asinine and insane, let me tell you something:

As a bipolar person, we are neither mentally unstable nor insane! You need to understand the fact that having manic episodes is something that we cannot control! And with the right medication, our mania ameliorates, but there are no accurate cures for them! Do you even know how I feel about this?!

Whenever I hear people talk about negative things about bipolar disorder, I couldn’t even be more irate at them.

People assumed that we were just going through mood swings.

People assumed that we were just overreacting over small things.

People assumed that we were hostile and violent enough to be serial killers or school shooters.

And, for the ladies, people assumed that we were just on our period.

That is all inaccurate bullshit!

Bipolar disorder is none of any of these.

You need to understand that being bipolar is both a serious and uncontrollable mental illness! It is something that we cannot help ourselves!

As aforementioned, bipolar cannot be cured, but it can be treated with psychotherapy and psychiatric medications. When you see us using medications, it doesn’t mean that we are drug addicts! It means we’re using prescriptions from our doctors to treat bipolar disorder to avert ourselves from any type of hazardousness!

Before you say something:

We are neither asinine nor insane!

Just because we suffer from mania, doesn’t mean we’re asinine or insane!

Most of us have no recollection of our manic episodes. That doesn’t mean you should bullshit us by canceling and calling us out on that! Do you even know how I, as well as other people who suffer from this mental illness, feel about that when you called us out and canceled us?!

Do you even know what it is like to be bipolar?!

You should all think twice before you judged us!

Go touch some grass and stop judging us for being bipolar! Whether if it is online or in real life! Being bipolar is real and serious!

Think about everything you said that can negatively affect us mentally!

People already assumed that us bipolar people are malevolent people, in which we are not!

Deep inside us, we are benevolent people! With the right treatment!

Not all bipolar people are serial killers or school shooters! We’re still able to live our daily lives without anything to negatively affect our mental health.

In fact, did you know that we’re known to be successful people?

Bipolar people can become famous singers, actors, and, of course, authors and writers, such as I. Just as long as we persist treating ourselves better for the sake of our mental health. We even turned to singing, acting, and writing as our escapism from our condition, whilst simultaneously describe in the art of metaphors of what it’s like to suffer from bipolar disorder.

Ever thought about that?

Therefore, we bipolar people are not bad people! We are still good people! We are those kinds of individuals who use the world of arts to describe what we have been experiencing for a long time.

Henceforth, bipolar people need love as much as non-bipolar people.

We are not what you judged us as!

You should all think twice about how you judged us for being bipolar.

End the stigma.
